Lying Flat
Brooklyn, New York
01 / 04Artist statement
In a society shaped by involution—endless, self-consuming competition—people are pushed toward education, career, marriage, success, and usefulness while genuine companionship and inner peace become increasingly difficult to hold onto.
To lie flat is to pause and look inward. It is a refusal to be reduced to a tool, a quiet act of courage that asks what we truly want after the roles and labels assigned by the world have been stripped away.
Lying flat is not surrender. It is liberation from the need for approval and a redefinition of the self: a reminder that happiness may begin when we stop chasing what others expect.
